“Dancing With the Stars” pro dancer and country singer Julianne Hough will star opposite Chace Crawford in Paramount’s upcoming remake of “Footloose.”
Casting is contingent on working out scheduling.
Crawford signed on a month ago to star after Zac Efron decided in March against toplining another tuner following “High School Musical 3” and “Hairspray.”
Lensing is set to begin in March. Plans are for a more mature approach to the material than in the original “Footloose.”
Dylan Sellers is producing alongside Kenny Ortega, Craig Zadan — a producer of the original “Footloose” — and Neil Meron.
The 1984 original spawned one of the biggest-selling soundtracks of its era and made a star of Kevin Bacon.
