The Writers Guild of America West has tapped producer/director Spike Jones, Jr. to executive produce its upcoming awards show on Feb. 20 at the Century Plaza.
Jones and his SJ2 Entertainment’s producing credits include the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for the past 15 years, the 2007 and 2006 Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet pre-show, Spike TV’s Video Game Awards After Bash and the first annual TV Land Awards Red Carpet Arrivals.
He also exec produced and directed the WGA West Coast ceremonies in 2003 and 2004, when the event was televised for the first time.
The WGA West holds its ceremony simultaneously with the WGA East’s event in New York City.
Jones’ creative team for the awards includes Carole Propp, whose credits include The Tony Awards for the past six years, the Primetime Emmy Awards for three years, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for the past six years and the Writers Guild Awards’ ceremonies in Los Angeles in 2005, 2006 and earlier this year. She’s currently working on “In the House” with Variety editorial director and VP Peter Bart and Peter Guber.
