Joann Sfar

Comic -book artist Sfar is set to stay very busy for the foreseeable future, bringing his Eisner Award-winning comicbook “The Rabbi’s Cat” to the bigscreen as well as helming “Gainsbourg, Vie Heroique,” a high-profile Serge Gainsbourg biopic, co-produced by Universal, both skedded for 2010. Sfar has been prepping the latter for years. “I’m not making a classic biopic like ‘La Vie en rose,'” Sfar explains. “I’m bringing my comicbook universe into the film — with puppets, songs, poetry and costumes — for my own fantasized vision of Gainsbourg.”
