Jenkel back at MPCA as exec veep

Exec left producing/ financing company in 1999

Brad Jenkel has rejoined Brad Krevoy’s Motion Picture Corp. of America, returning to the producing/ financing company he left in 1999.

Jenkel’s return coincides with Krevoy’s plan to re-establish MPCA as a significant independent production company, he said.

Jenkel, who takes the post of exec veep of production, teamed with Krevoy during the time when the company’s slate included the Peter and Bobby Farrelly-directed “Dumb and Dumber” and “Kingpin,” as well as the Chris Farley starrer “Beverly Hills Ninja.”

Jenkel subsequently headed production for Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films, and he most recently served as head of production at the Yari Film Group until YFP fell into an involuntary Chapter 11 last spring and scaled down its productions to one or two movies per year. Jenkel worked on such films as “Hostage,” “Matador” and “Prime,” and most recently the Uma Thurman starrer “The Accidental Husband” and “The Assassination of a High School President,” which featured Bruce Willis.

Krevoy, who last produced the Ross Katz-directed “Taking Chance” for HBO, brings Jenkel back to the fold as MPCA develops “Rainbow Bridge,” a DreamWorks-based remake of the Japanese film “Yomigarie,” which is being rewritten by “Time Traveler’s Wife” scribe Bruce Joel Rubin.

“At a time when independent companies are falling away from the business, we’re ramping up to take advantage,” Krevoy said.
