Conference to relaunch after five-year break

IFP is relaunching its “Script to Screen” conference after a five-year break.

The 2009 edition, set to run March 7-8 at New York Film Academy, will open with a conversation between screenwriter and Focus Features CEO James Schamus and Filmmaker editor Scott Macaulay. Lee Daniels, helmer of the hot Sundance property “Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire,” will close out the conference.

Other featured speakers include “American Gangster” producer Nelson George; “The Wrestler” producer Scott Franklin; and the creators of FX drama series “Damages,” Glenn Kessler, Todd Kessler and Daniel Zelman.

“The landscape for writers has changed so dramatically since the program last took place,” said IFP exec director Michelle Byrd. “There’s a real appetite from a new generation of content creators looking to connect.”
