The Hollywood Film Festival has added a comedy segment at this year’s event.
The festival, now in its 13th year, made the announcement Monday as part of its call for entries. The event, with Starz as the presenting sponsor, takes place Oct. 21-26 at the ArcLight Cinemas.
The fest’s comedy advisory board includes CAA agent Greg Cavic, producers John L. Jacobs and David Permut , managers Tim Sarkes and Christie Smith and director Robert B. Weide. The selected films will be competing for the fest’s awards.
“We at the Hollywood Film Festival are aiming to ensure that comedy filmmakers’ labors of love pay off through an A-level platform for comedy,” said Anthony D’Alessandro, senior programmer for the comedy segment. D’Alessandro is a Variety alum.
