The scoop: A tragicomedy about a dinner party between so-called friends who end up acting like a dysfunctional family. Helmer Thompson, producer Gozlan and scribe Christopher Thompson last teamed up for “Avenue Montaigne,” which traveled well, especially in the U.S., where it grossed $2 million.

The scoop: Based on “The Irreguliere” by Edmonde Charles-Roux and adapted by scribe Christopher Hampton, this $27.6 million biopic chronicles Coco Chanel’s early years before she became a fashion icon. Pic has been sold to many territories already, including Luxor for Russia, SPI Intl. for Eastern Europe and Audiovisual for Greece and the Balkans; Warner Bros. has all other territories.

The scoop: Based on the true story of Vladimir Vetrov (aka Petrov), a Russian KGB agent who collaborated with French intelligence and helped dismantle the Iron Curtain.

MICMACS A TIRE LARIGOT

Stars: Dany Boon, Yolande Moreau, Jean-Pierre Marielle

The scoop: This $37 million pic marks Jeunet’s comeback after a five-year break since “A Very Long Engagment.” In this satiric comedy, Dany Boon (“Welcome to the Sticks”) plays a modest man who plans on bringing down powerful gun traders. Pic has been picked up by Canada and U.K.’s Entertainment One, Scandinavia’s Scanbox, Greece’s Odeon and Slovakia’s Hollywood Classic.

NE TE RETOURNES PAS

The scoop: A psychodrama about a writer with two children who mysteriously transforms into another woman without anyone around her noticing, pic is helmed by de Van, a rising star in France.
