CJ Entertainment sets new CEO

Katharine Kim also retains her role as exec VP

SEOUL — Katharine Kim has been appointed CEO of CJ Entertainment, South Korea’s biggest movie company.

Kim also retains her role as exec VP and head of international at the company. She is its first female topper and replaces Kim Joo-sung (no relation), who has become CEO of cabler CJ Media.

Kim joined CJ Entertainment in 2005 having previously worked for Columbia Tristar Film of Korea and Art Service. At CJ she oversaw company’s Korean-U.S. co-productions including “August Rush,” while also taking responsibility for the distribution and marketing in Korea of the Dreamworks’ and Paramount studio slates.
