Chris Gorak prepares for ‘Dead Loss’

Thriller set in world of crab fishing

Chris Gorak (“Right at Your Door”) will direct thriller “Dead Loss” for Palmer West and Jonah Smith and their Thousand Words banner.

Script, penned by Josh Baizer and Marshall Johnson, is set in the dangerous world of crab fishing and explores what happens when a crew rescues a castaway adrift in a life raft with mysterious cargo.

Project re-teams Gorak with Thousand Words, which produced “Right at Your Door.” Development director Jesse Johnston will also serve in a producing capacity.

The production and finance company’s credits include “Religulous,” “Waking Life” and “A Scanner Darkly.”
