PRC's 60th anniversary shifts event one month

BEIJING — Chinese authorities have postponed this year’s Beijing Screenings, a platform for distributors to watch local movies, from Sept. 23-26 to Oct. 27-30 because of the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“With preparations well in advance, the organizing committee of the 13th Beijing Screenings is very sorry to announce its decision to postpone the Beijing Screenings,” China Film Group and China Film Promotion Intl. said in a statement.

The Beijing Screenings, which screen new movies for distribs, have taken on more significance in recent years because of the growing importance of the Chinese biz, and are attended by a growing number of foreign film makers.
