Studio executive oversaw post-production

Charlie Davis, exec VP of post production for CBS Films, died Aug. 4 in Los Angeles. He was 51.

Davis joined CBS in March where he oversaw post-production for the distrib’s first three films, “The Back-up Plan,” “The Untitled Crowley Project” and “Beastly.”

Born in Tuscon, Ariz., Davis graduated from Cal State Northridge with a degree in film. He started as a freelance assistant editor, followed by a four-year stint at Dimension Sound.

Before joining CBS, Davis spent 15 years at Fox where he oversw advertising, visual effects and domestic and international distribution on such pics as “Night at the Museum” and the “X-Men” series. He also served as senior VP of post production at Marvel Studios since 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Noreen, and two sons.

Funeral services will be held Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at Saint Francis de Sales Church, Sherman Oaks.
