3 Arts hires Avi Gilbert for N.Y. office

Management/production co. taps comedy agent

3 Arts has hired APA comedy agent Avi Gilbert, who has switched to manager and will join the Gotham office recently opened by the management/production company.

The hire was made by partners Dave Becky and David Miner. At APA, Gilbert repped such clients as TJ Miller, John Mulaney, Larry Wilmore, JB Smoove, Wyatt Cenac, College Humor, Broken Lizard and The Whitest Kids You Know. Miller, Mulaney and Wilmore are already 3Arts clients, and it is unclear which of the others might join Gilbert. All of the clients will stay at APA.

The move expands 3 Arts’ New York office, which was reopened with the hiring of former Endeavor book agent Richard Abate. The company also added Alan Rautbort, who worked in the TV department of WMA, specializing in hourlong TV lit. The company is looking to hire a talent manager.

“We’ve been impressed by Avi over the years and when he decided to grow his career as a manager, we were thrilled he chose to do so with us,” Becky said.
