Sony film takes $19.2 million in five weeks

MUMBAI — Roland Emmerich’s “2012” has become the highest grossing Hollywood film ever in India collecting more than 900 million rupees ($19.2 million) in five weeks on release, according to Sony Pictures India.

Previous record holder was “Spider-Man 3,” which made $14.2 million in 2007.

2012″ is now the second highest grossing film of the year in India after Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Ajab prem ki ghazab kahani,” which has taken more than $21 million.
