Exec named VP of theatrical marketing

Former MGM marketing exec Justin Slobig is rejoining the studio as senior VP of theatrical marketing.

Move indicates studio is committed to expanding its marketing ranks under theatrical marketing exec VP Michael Vollman, to whom Slobig will report.

Vollman lauded Slobig, who worked at MGM from 2002-05, as “a true talent and a class act.” He added, “His instincts and strong work ethic make him an ideal addition to our group.”

During his previous MGM stint, Slobig rose to director, and his responsibilities included extensive work on the Bond series (“Die Another Day”) and the “Barbershop” franchise. He most recently was a producer at Toy Box Entertainment, where his projects included “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and “Final Destination 3.”

Slobig began his career at New Line as an assistant to Kevin Shelby.
