Sony pic, opening Friday, is picked up by the cabler
“Did You Hear About the Morgans?” They landed at Lifetime.
The femme-centric cable has picked up the TV rights to “Morgans,” which hits theaters on Friday.
Morgans” reps the latest Sony theatrical to find a home at Lifetime. The network earlier this year picked up the rights to the studio’s “Julie and Julia,” “Obsessed” and “The Ugly Truth.”
As part of the pact with Sony, Lifetime has also picked up rights to the studio’s October thriller “The Stepfather.”
It’s too soon to tell how much Lifetime will ultimately shell out for “Morgans,” which it picked up for a typical 10%- 11% of the ultimate box office gross. (“The Stepfather” pulled in just under $30 million, putting its price tag at about $3 million.)
Morgans” will appear on Lifetime some time in 2012.
The romantic comedy, written and directed by Marc Lawrence, stars Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker as an estranged Manhattan couple who are moved by the Witness Protection Agency to Wyoming.
