Kennedy, Garbus to deliver closing keynote
Producing partners Rory Kennedy and Liz Garbus will deliver a closing address on “Social Change Through Documentary” at Mipdoc, the market for docu features, specials and series that runs March 28-29 in Cannes.
Their keynote will be moderated by Lynne Kirby, Sundance Channel senior VP, original programming. Kennedy and Garbus launched New York-based Moxie Firecracker Films in 1998. Kennedy is best known for 2007’s “Ghosts of Abu Ghraib,” which preemed at Sundance and won a Primetime Emmy Award for documentary. Garbus’ “Shouting Fire: Stories From the Edge of Free Speech,” preemed at Sundance last month and will be broadcast on HBO. Mipdoc organizer Reed Midem is owned by Daily Variety parent Reed Elsevier.
