McManus, Rosen tapped as co-directors
Film Independent has tapped senior director Sean McManus and director of programming Rachel Rosen as interim co-directors for the upcoming Los Angeles Film Festival, two months after Richard Raddon ankled the post.
Raddon resigned Nov. 25 in the wake of a barrage of protests over his contribution to the successful Yes on Prop. 8 ballot initiative that banned same-sex marriage in California.
“During this interim period, I am confident that Sean and Rachel will continue with Rich Raddon’s vision to evolve the festival and create an atmosphere that is diverse in content and culture, inviting, accessible and, most importantly, fun,” said Dawn Hudson, exec director of Film Independent, on Tuesday.
McManus joined Film Independent in 1998 and oversees the development and diversity departments, as well as revenue streams. Rosen has more than 14 years’ experience programming in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York and selects the lineup of American and international films for the L.A. fest each year.
Event is set for June 18-28 in Westwood Village, with an expected audience of more than 100,000 people and more than 175 features, docs and short films, along with premiere events, panels and seminars.
