Film Independent has named “Kite Runner” author Khaled Hosseini and architect Thom Mayne as the artists-in-residence for its Los Angeles Film Festival running June 18-28.
As part of the honor, both Hosseini and Mayne will host discussions after screening a film that inspired their work.
Fest will open with the world premiere of “Paper Man,” starring Jeff Daniels, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone.
More than 190 feature films, shorts and musicvideos will screen, including a special unspooling of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” which will bow at the event.
Helmer Hayao Miyazaki’s star-studded animated film “Ponyo” will close the fest June 28.
