Killer joins Zip’s ‘Fake Orgasm’

Regal takes 'Blank Bullet' in several territories

MADRID — Christine Vachon’s New York-based Killer Films will co-produce Zip Films’ “Fake Orgasm,” a docu by Jo Sol.

Vachon will exec produce and consult on film’s promotion, distribution and festival strategy.

Fake Orgasm” is produced by Jordi Rediu and Norbert Llaras at Barcelona’s Zip Films, the Spanish arm of Adi Cohen’s recently launched pan-European production and distribution platform Regal Entertainment.

Killer’s involvement in “Orgasm” coincides with Regal’s announcement that it’s handling U.S., Europe and Israel distribution rights to Spanish-Israeli co-production “Blank Bullet,” a political thriller helmed by Haim Bouzaglo.

Now in post, “Orgasm” is based interviews done in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America. Sol attempts to find common answers that cross-cultural boundaries as to why three quarters of women say they’re sexually dissatisfied and many fake orgasms.

The documenatary is Sol’s first feature after “The Taxi Thief,” which was based on the true story of a Barcelona cab driver who ferries passengers in stolen taxis. New York financing company CA Capital Markets, an investor in Regal, has acquired English-language film adaptation rights on “Thief.”

Killer Films, which has a close relationship with Regal, is also developing the $20 million Al Pacino starrer “Betsy and the Emperor,” on which Zip took a minority co-production stake last summer.
