'The Daytrippers' (Grand Jury Prize, '96)

“My Slamdance experience was great and horrifying simultaneously. We had the worst possible screening you could have. There were technical problems, people couldn’t really hear the dialogue, and I came down with the flu right before I got there. I thought we were dead in the water. Then we had some good screenings and things really turned around. I am really happy Slamdance still exists, because it represents a different voice than Sundance, and that distinction between the organizations is great, and it benefits both of them. I spent a lot of time before ‘Superbad’ worrying about how I was going to turn around my career as a feature filmmaker, when I should have probably just picked up a video camera and made a few more Slamdance movies.”
