Disaster pic ‘2012’ bows in L.A.

Stars Cusack, Peet attend after-party

Filming a 10.5 magnitude earthquake that destroys L.A. was a cathartic moment for longtime resident and “2012” director Roland Emmerich.

“Everybody says when the big one happens that California sinks into the ocean, and I’m always scared about that. And it was quite nice to just do it once in the movie so I know what to expect,” the helmer said at Tuesday’s premiere.

Stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt and Chiwetel Ejiofor as well as Sony execs Howard Stringer, Amy Pascal, Michael Lynton and Matt Tolmach attended the bow at the new Regal Cinemas in the L.A. Live complex followed by an after-party at the swanky Conga Room overlooking downtown, which guests just watched sink on the bigscreen.
