CJ, ToonBox to coproduce ‘Blip’

3-D feature planned around character

Korea’s CJ Entertainment and Canada’s ToonBox Entertainment are co-producing “Blip,” a new TV toon series about the adventures of a robot in 2080, with plans for a 3-D feature based on the character.

The $9.1 million series, consisting of 26 half-hour episodes, is being helmed by Peter Lepeniotis (an animator on “Toy Story 2”) and Dimos Vrysellas (an animator on “Shark Tale”).

CJ Entertainment has worldwide sales and distribution rights to the skein, which is aimed at the North America market. It also has worldwide theatrical and DVD rights to the planned film, handling licensing and merchandising rights for consumer electronics and toys based on it.
