Cesar trio set for City of Lights

'Someone I Loved' to open festival

Three major Cesar award winners are skedded to screen at the 13th annual City of Lights, City of Angels film fest, set for the Directors Guild of America April 20-26.

Fest opens with the international premiere of “Someone I Loved,” starring Daniel Auteuil and Marie-Josee Croze. Two of the films, “Seraphine,” which won seven Cesars, including film, actress and screenplay, and the sprawling, two-part Scorsese-inspired gangster epic, “Mesrine: A Film in Two Parts,” which won director and actor awards, will have their L.A. debut after playing at New York’s Rendez-Vous with French Cinema fest. “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,” which copped Cesars for most promising actor and actress, is also on tap.

Number of pics screening has increased by two over last year, for a total of 50 features and shorts.

COLCOA attracts about 75% of its audience from the film biz.

Talent confirmed to attend so far includes directors Jean-Francois Richet (“Public Enemy”), Zabou Breitman (“Someone I Loved”), Josiane Balasko (“A French Gigolo”) and Costa-Gavras, who will be the subject of a tribute.

The fest will also feature, in association with Variety, its Happy Hour Talks panel series for the third consecutive year.
