It Is With A Heavy Heart…

…That Your Mama informs the children that one of the celebrity real estate gossip world’s greatest has died.

We’ve just received word that Braden Keil, the exceedingly charming and well connected writer of the Gimme Shelter column in the NY Post, died last night after succumbing to a battle with melanoma, a sometimes fatal form of skin cancer.

Keil’s column has been a weekly must read for real estate junkies ever since he penned his first juicy tidbits back in 2000.

Braden was a colleague and a friend who always had a kind word for Your Mama. We are truly and deeply saddened by his passing and our usually cold, darky and snarky heart goes out to to his wife and his three children.

good piece in the new york observer about keil today:

sounds like he really took good advantage of his time here. that makes me feel a little better, but still very sad.

wow. completely shocked to hear of braden keil’s death. i did not know that he had been diagnosed with malignant melenoma back in 2007 until reading the gawker item today. I guess i was not reading his column on a regular basis back then. since i have began reading it regularly online, sometime since then, he has been contributing new pieces on what seemed like a regular basis. however, now that i think about it, i guess they were far fewer in recent months, and then this past week, nothing. something very poignant about the fact that he was still trying to keep it up until almost the very end. . .

Now THAT I think would have Mr. Keil smiling (if he had any clue who average joe was).

Tragedy always seems to strike in threes. I hate to be the bearer of more sad news but avg joe died this morning at his Beverly Park mansion after drowning in massive quantities of his own bullshit.
When asked for a comment, his best friend Barabra Streisand replied “Oy Vey, I’m so fahklempt I can’t speak”.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The California Board of Realtors.

Would you STOP cutting & pasting from other celeb sites – it’s so annoying. This is a celeb property blog, not a blog about car accidents in Orange County. Everyone here has a computer, we can go to TMZ ourselves if we want to read about that kinda thing.

here is another piece of sad news

TMZ has learned Charles Lewis Jr. — aka “Mask” — was driving his Ferrari Modena in Orange County, Calif. around 1:00 AM this morning when cops say it “left the roadway, hit the curb, took out a light pole.”

“Mask” was declared dead at the scene. A female passenger — who was ejected from the crash — was taken to a local hospital, but we’re told she’s in bad shape.

Cops believe “Mask” was racing a guy in a Porsche at the time of the crash, and authorities have since arrested the guy they believe was driving the other car. That man — Jeffrey David Kirby — is being held on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.

UPDATE: A rep for TapouT released this statement: “It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we must regretfully confirm the passing of our beloved friend, brother and co-founder Charles “Mask” Lewis following a car accident that occurred last night. We are currently in the process of setting up a memorial service in his honor and will release more details as they become available. Many thanks to all for the outpouring of blessings and well-wishes during this incredibly difficult time.”

OK, no more proverbial pressing your nose up against the gates hoping to catch a glimpse of what goes on at the Playboy mansion. Now, you can live right next door and spy much more effectively from the comforts of your own home.

Hugh Hefner and wife Kimberley have listed their personal residence, located next door to the Playboy mansion, for sale at $27,995,000. It’s a mini-me to the party palace next door, a sister house if you will.

So very sorry for your loss Mama, and my prayers go out to Mr. Keil’s family. May he rest in blessed peace. Cancer is the Grim Reaper among all diseases. I lost my only sibling to cancer before she even had a chance to finish school. It’s heart breaking.

RIP Braden…I just loved his column. He was a classy, funny, nice man, someone who is, sadly, increasingly rare in this world we live in now.
