Over 200,000 units sold in first day
Teen vampire fantasy “Twilight” is on course to repeat its U.S. DVD success in the U.K.
On Monday, its first day of release, it shifted 211,031 units.
E1 Entertainment, which owns DVD distribution rights in the U.K. and Ireland, said DVD and Blu-ray sales made the film the third biggest opener of the year so far, trailing “High School Musical 3” and “Quantum of Solace.”
The release also drew the largest opening-day numbers for E1, according to the company.
“Twilight,” based on Stephanie Meyer’s bestseller, grossed £11.1 million ($16.4 million) during its U.K. theatrical run and has accumulated $376.7 million worldwide.
E1 will also distribute the next film in the franchise, “New Moon,” which is currently lensing.
