'Lost,' 'Betty,' 'Fringe' included in deal

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Spain — Content from Gallic broadcaster TF1’s online video-on-demand service TF1 Vision will be carried on telco giant Orange’s 24/24 VOD platform in France.

Content included in the deal, to be offered to  Orange TV and PC subscribers, includes the latest seasons of TF1 hits “Lost,” “Fringe,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Ugly Betty,” plus TF1 original dramas “RIS” and “Paris enquetes criminelles.”

Programming will be offered to rent for 24 hours, with some available before its TF1 broadcast.

TF1 Vision has won frequent praise from Hollywood TV execs for making episodes of U.S. hit series available in original, subtitled versions within 24 hours of U.S. broadcast.

But revenues remain elusive.

London-based media analysis company Screen Digest estimates that the entire VOD biz in Gaul generated revenue of $8 million in 2008.

Orange is potentially the biggest IPTV player in France. It already has half of the broadband market and launched its own exclusive premium pay TV services in 2008, including Orange Cinema Series, which has deals with HBO and Warner Bros. Intl. TV.
