Site attempts to expand local coverage

MSNBC.com has partnered with the innovative local news feed EveryBlock in an attempt to expand its local partnership and content-sharing opportunities.

Founded in 2007, the Chicago-based EveryBlock allows users to access news coverage, blog entries, civic data and photos within a city block based on their local address or zip code.

“Joining with MSNBC.com gives us the resources to turn EveryBlock from a cool, useful service into something much bigger,” said founder Adrian Holovaty.

Site covers 15 major cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Boston and Atlanta.

The site will continue as an independent brand at Everyblock.com.
