Mipcom to pay tribute to ‘Simpsons’

Groening to receive Creative Icon Award

LONDON — This fall’s Mipcom sales mart and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution are banding together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “The Simpsons.”

The show’s creator and executive producer Matt Groening plus exec producer Al Jean will be in Cannes, where Groening will receive the inaugural Mipcom Creative Icon Award at a gala dinner Oct. 7.

Both will also deliver a keynote address Oct. 6 in which they will speak about the show’s success, its longevity and its migration across all distribution platforms.
