'Transformers,' 'Watchmen' given prizes

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Watchmen” and “Julie & Julia” got an early start on this season’s technical kudos Thursday night as the Hollywood Post Alliance presented its the fourth annual HPA Awards.

Steven J. Scott of EFilm won for color grading in a DI process for “Julie & Julia.” Audio post honors went to the “Watchmen” team of Chris Jenkins, Frank A. Montano, Scott Hecker and Eric Norris of Universal Studios Sound.

Industrial Light & Magic’s compositing team of Nelson Sepulveda, Ben O’Brien, Matthew Brumit and Robert Hoffmeister won for “Transformers 2.”

“Slumdog Millionaire,” released after last year’s deadline, picked up yet another award, for editor Chris Dickens.

Sony’s Lynne Willingham took TV editing honors for “Breaking Bad.”

“Fringe” and the Walt Disney Studio Post Production Services team of Thomas Harris, Michael Ferdie, Chris Reeves, Mark Fleming and Tom Dahl won for TV audio post.
