Hearst taps digital executive

Kliavkoff named exec VP, deputy group head

Former NBC Universal chief digital officer George Kliavkoff has joined Hearst Entertainment and Syndication, where he’ll focus on expanding the company’s digital offerings.

Kliavkoff, who was instrumental in the launch of Hulu before departing the Peacock late last year, will report to another former NBC exec: Scott Sassa, president of Hearst Entertainment and Syndication. Kliavkoff will serve as exec VP and deputy group head, focusing on the digital aspects of Hearst’s interests in cablers such as ESPN, Lifetime, A&E and History, as well as its TV production and distribution operation, its newspaper syndie arm and its merchandise licensing.

Kliavkoff was the first CEO of Hulu, NBC Universal’s online video joint venture with News Corp., and served on its board. He first joined NBC in 2006.ends
