Sandberg set for board of directors
The Mouse House has nommed Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg to serve on its board of directors.
Sandberg would serve as an independent director, and her appointment would expand the board to 13 members. Disney shareholders will vote on Sandberg’s nomination and the reelection of the other 12 directors at the Mouse’s annual meeting set for March 10 in San Antonio, Texas.
Sheryl has been at the forefront of a technological revolution that’s opened up a world of new possibilities for consumers and which has greatly affected the way we do business,” said Disney chief Bob Iger in announcing Sandberg’s nomination.
Sandberg has been with Facebook since 2008. Before that, she spent seven years as veep of global online sales and operations for Google. She also worked as a chief of staff at the U.S. Treasury Dept. and as an economist for the World Bank.
