Tornatore pic to be released on the web

Digital distribution company Content Republic has inked a deal to release Italian helmer Giuseppe Tornatore’s “Cinema Paradiso” on the web.

Pic is part of an overall deal with U.K.-based distributor Arrow Films that will see Content Republic market and distribute over 60 titles in Arrow’s back catalog online, including Roman Polanski’s “Bitter Moon” and a number of Claude Chabrol’s early films.

Deal initially covers viewers in the U.K. with any further expansion of Content Republic’s web offerings subject to clearance of rights with distribs in individual territories.

“We believe there is a great potential for digital distribution to give films a new lease of life,” said Content Republic co-founder Teun Hilte.
