Campbell named Panavision CEO

Discovery vet will report to Ronald Perelman

Panavision has named William (Billy) M. Campbell president and CEO.

Campbell was most recently prexy of Discovery Networks. He has done stints at ABC, CBS and Warner Bros. TV and has been president of Miramax Television.

He will report to Ronald Perelman, the billionaire investor who owns Panavision and holds the title of chairman.

Campbell replaces former Technicolor exec Robert Beitcher six years after Beitcher was named to the prexy post.

Panavision is a leader in cameras, lighting and other equipment for TV and movie production. It employs about 1,250 people worldwide.

Under Beitcher, Panavision introduced the Genesis digital camera, but the company’s business is mainly in film equipment, which is under pressure from digital cameras.
