Rob Reiner will lead a noontime rally in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday to urge voters not to pass Proposition 1D and 1E — two of six measures that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says are critical to solving the state’s budget woes.
Reiner argues that the propositions will slash massive amounts from children’s programs and mental health services that have been approved by voters in past elections.
The rally in front of the governor’s office also will include reps from AFSME and SEIU, as well as other groups.
Schwarzenegger warned of teacher layoffs, fire station closures, early inmate releases and other drastic measures if the ballot measures don’t pass on May 19.
