Jimmy Fallon’s Debut

The new host of NBC’s “Late Night” drew better ratings but very mixed reviews, but there’s always some risk in judging a show before giving it some time. What Fallon did do that was somewhat imaginative — at least at first — was when he came up with a novel approach about telling jokes about the news. He sang them, starting with a riff on the stimulus debate and Nancy Pelosi, in what the show calls the “slow jam.” It worked for a bit, then went on too long. But I guess that is the point of the “slow jam.”
