Jurors include Dante, Bonnaire, Cavani

The Venice Film Festival chose fest regulars and one newcomer to serve on its main jury on Wednesday.

Joining previously announced jury prexy Ang Lee will be U.S. helmer Joe Dante, Gallic thesp Sandrine Bonnaire, Italian helmer Liliana Cavani, Italian rock star and helmer Luciano Ligabue and Indian scribe-helmer Anurag Kashyap.

Lee is a two-time Venice Golden Lion winner, for “Brokeback Mountain” in 2005 and for “Lust, Caution” in 2007. Bonnaire won the Venice Coppa Volpi acting prize in 1995 for her role in Claude Chabrol’s “La Ceremonie.” Dante’s “The Second Civil War” unspooled at the Lido in 1997. Cavani scooped a Lion in 1965 for docu “Primo piano: Philippe Petain, processo a Vichy,” and was most recently at the Lido with “Ripley’s Game” in 2002. Ligabue’s first feature, “Radiofreccia,” bowed in Venice in 1998. The only Venetian newcomer is Kashyap, who collaborated with Danny Boyle on “Slumdog Millionaire.”

The fest’s 66th edition will run Sept. 2-12. The lineup will be announced Thursday.
