Tennant to bring his ‘Hamlet’ to TV

Adaptation of stage show to air on PBS in 2010

“Doctor Who” star David Tennant is bringing his Hamlet to the States.

PBS’ “Great Performances” will air the recent Royal Shakespeare Company production that starred Tennant some time in 2010. Also in the cast is Patrick Stewart, an honorary associate of the RSC.

Tennant won the U.K. National Television Award from 2006-08 for playing the title role in “Doctor Who.” He also appeared as Barty Crouch Jr. in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

Tennant debuts as host of “Masterpiece Contemporary” on PBS in October. The series returns Oct. 25 with “Endgame,” a drama about the final days of apartheid in South Africa that stars William Hurt and Jonny Lee Miller. The film will open in select U.S. theaters Oct. 30.
