“The Stripper,” a tuner from “The Rocky Horror Show” creator Richard O’Brien, will get a U.K. preem next month in a touring production.
O’Brien, who penned the lyrics for “Stripper,” also will star. Carter Brown, wrote the book of the tuner based on his own pulp novel. Music is by Richard Hartley, an original band member of “The Rocky Horror Show” and also an arranger of the screen adaptation.
“Stripper” preemed in Sydney in 1982. Noirish plot, set in California in 1961, centers on a policeman trying to solve a mysterious death.
Show will play a short U.K. tour that kicks off in Hornchurch Aug. 29.
Also set to tour this fall is a production of “The Rocky Horror Show.” Starring David Bedella (“Jerry Springer — The Opera”) as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, tour begins perfs in Wimbledon Sept. 17 and plays a dozen stops through February.
