Channel specializes in international drama

TOKYO — Sony Pictures Ent. Japan has acquired exclusive broadcast rights to the Golden Globe Awards broadcast.

Sony will broadcast the kudocast on AXN, a foreign drama specialty channel it manages, which serves more than six million households via cable, satellite and broadband.

The Globes were previously aired in Japan by pubcaster NHK, but AXN has been effective in raising the profile of U.S. drama series in the Japanese market, which helped Sony close the deal.
