Showbox engages in ‘Sword’ play

Film unit sells martial arts epic

SEOUL — Showbox Mediaplex has sold Korean historical martial arts epic “The Sword With No Name” to Splendid Films for German-speaking Europe and Benelux, Showbox Media Group for the U.K., Horizon Intl. for Turkey and Catchplay for Taiwan.

Pic, starring Cho Seung-woo and Su Ae, is skdded for a fall release in Korea.

Showbox Mediaplex has also sold a package of 21 titles to Taiwan’s Catchplay, including upcoming adventure thriller set “A Million.”

Among other Showbox titles, crime drama “The Scam” has been picked up by Melting Culture for Mainland China, Catchplay for Taiwan, Hwa Yea Multimedia for Malaysia & Brunei and Horizon Intl. for Turkey.   

Kwon Sang-woo starrer “More Than Blue” has been widely sold to Asian buyers, including H.G.C. Entertainment for Mainland China, Intercontinental Film for Hong Kong & Macao, Catchplay for Taiwan, Hwa Yea Multimedia for Malaysia & Brunei, BHD for Vietnam and Way Rich Source Asia for Mongol.

U.K.’s Showbox Mediagroup also picked up thriller “Missing.”
