Distrib arm X Verleih shuffles personnel

BERLIN — Stefan Arndt, head of Berlin-based producer X Filme, is stepping down as managing director in order to focus on producing.

Producer Uwe Schott will replace Arndt, who will remain on X Filme’s management board.

Schott heads Munich-based film and TV production shingle Sperl + Schott Film with producer Gabriela Sperl and worked with X Filme on Oskar Roehler’s “Lulu und Jimi.”

Arndt joined directors Wolfgang Becker, Dani Levy and Tom Tykwer to form X Filme in 1994 and has overseen such high-profile productions as Tykwer’s “Run Lola Run,” Becker’s “Good Bye, Lenin” and this year’s European Film Award winner, Michael Haneke’s “The White Ribbon.”

Company has also shuffled top personnel in distrib unit X Verleih. Manuela Stehr is stepping down from X Filme’s management board to head X Verleih, with Arndt, Martin Kochendoerfer and Andreas Dobers serving as board members. Stehr will also continue to produce and is working on Levy’s “Das leben ist zu lang” and Claudia Lehmann’s “Schilf.”
