Filmhuset Gruppen acquires distrib company
STOCKHOLM — Norwegian production company Filmhuset Gruppen has acquired the country’s oldest distribution company, Europafilm, for an undisclosed sum.
Europafilm was established in 1933 by the Saelen family who have run it since then.
Managing director Erik Saelen, who has been in poor health lately, will retire but will stay on as a consultant, assisting Filmhuset Gruppen CEO Egil Odegard.
Europafilm distributed Hollywood blockbusters including “Dances With Wolves” and “The English Patient,” and local films including Knut Erik Jensen’s hit “Cool and Crazy.”
