U.K. comedy house opens up clips archive

LONDON — Rare footage of some of the U.K.’s most iconic comedy TV shows, including clips starring Steve Coogan and Armando Iannucci, are featured in what is being billed as an online encyclopedia of British comedy.

The venture is backed by Pozzitive, the British shingle responsible for some of Blighty’s funniest TV comedy during the past two decades.

The site includes clips from such British classic laffers as “French & Saunders,” “Not the Nine O’Clock News,” “Harry Enfield & Chums,” “The Paul & Pauline Calf Video Diaries,” “Spitting Image,” “Victoria Wood — As Seen on TV” and “The Young Ones.”

Users who visit http://www.pozzitive.co.uk will be able to purchase shows via an in-site store with links to DVDs and download-to-own audio from Amazon & Audible.co.uk.
