Nordic pics get funding boost abroad

Initiative to be launched at Toronto

STOCKHOLM — The Nordic Film and TV Fund is to offer coin to distribs from outside the Nordic region — which covers Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland — to help fund the release of Nordic pics.

The initiative, known as International Cinema Distribution Support, will be launched at the Toronto Film Festival next month. The titles that are eligible are the Nordic pics screening at the fest. The budget is Euros 200,000 ($280,000). Coin is non-refundable.

The Nordic Film & TV Fund earlier this year launched the High Five initiative, which hands coin to distribs within the Nordic region to encourage them to screen films from neighboring countries.
