Duo ready teen novela follow-up

Buoyed by high ratings, Nickelodeon Latin America and Sony Pictures Television are set to co-produce “Isa TK+” (Isa I Luv U More), the follow-up to their first telenovela, “Isa TKM” (Isa, I Luv U).

Aimed at tweens, original novela was produced in Spanish in Venezuela and customized in Portuguese for Nick Brazil.

The CD of its soundtrack and musical numbers is a hot seller across the region, achieving gold record status in Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina.

The 120 hourlong episodes of “Isa TK+” will be shot in Colombia in partnership with Teleset, which has been 50%-owned by SPT since January.

The original cast of four teens from Venezuela and Argentina remain while thesps from Colombia and Mexico will fill out the ranks.

“In the new storyline, the foursome attend an art school in Colombia,” said Tatiana Rodriguez, Nickelodeon’s senior VP of programming and creative strategy, Latin America.

Production begins mid-July for a late-September debut on Nick Latin America.

Meanwhile, MTV’s Latino-targeted sister net MTV Tr3s has acquired “Isa TKM,” the first telenovela for the channel, and will strip it beginning June 22.

“Its music component made a good fit for our network,” said Lily Neumeyer, the web’s VP of programming and production.

Nick Latin America is also producing its first preschool skein for Brazil, “Doggie Daycare.”

Portuguese-language skein, consisting of 26 11-minute episodes, will debut in Brazil in late August while a Spanish-language version will air across the region later in the year.
