MEXICO CITY — MTV Latin America is shaking up its annual awards format this year by holding a multicity kudocast on Oct. 15.
Bogota and Los Angeles are the first two cities to confirm participation on the eighth edition of “Los Premios MTV,” to be broadcast on MTV nets all across Latin America and its Spanish-lingo MTV Tres in the U.S.
The show will feature a number of online multimedia tie-ins as other cities announce their participation in the run-up to the event.
“This year’s multicity format will allow us to expand our reach on the ground unlike any other event in the region,” said MTV Networks Latin America prexy Sofia Ioannou.
Last year’s show held in Guadalajara, Mexico, captured an estimated 12.5 million viewers.
