South Korea will launch on Thursday the Korea Creative Content Agency, which will oversee the creation of vidgames, cartoons, TV and online content.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has combined five existing orgs, including the Culture and Content Agency, Game Industry Agency and the Broadcasting Institute, to create the superbody. The Korean Film Council will continue as a separate org.
Lee Jae-woong, a professor of public administration at Busan’s Dong-Eui U. and a former member of the National Assembly, has been tapped as director of the agency, which will have a $144 million annual budget. The coin will be used to develop content and promote local entertainment companies.
The government amended the Culture Industry Promotion Law last year to create the body.
