Jeon Do-yeon named ‘Housemaid’

Korean actress to star in Mirovision's remake

SEOUL — Korean star Jeon Do-yeon is to star in the remake of “The Housemaid,” produced by Mirovision.

 Jeon won the Cannes best actress award  for “Secret Sunshine” in 2007. 

Thriller “The Housemaid” was released in 1960 from helmer Kim Ki-young. Pic revolves around a story of a housemaid who loves her master and threatens his family. The original version was digitally restored with the support of Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Foundation and was screened in Cannes classic section last year.

 Remake will be directed by Im Sang-soo, and starts lensing at the end of the year and aims for a May 2010 delivery. Mirovision is also handling international sales.
