ITV greenlights new Jackson doc

Show will contain previously unseen footage

LONDON — British commercial web ITV has greenlit a new Michael Jackson documentary that it said contains previously unseen footage of the late star.

The hourlong show, “My Friend Michael Jackson: Uri’s Story,” features footage from the personal archive of Jackson’s friend, paranormalist Uri Geller. It has been commissioned by  flagship web ITV1 and will be available for international sale.

Film depicts Jackson on a spending spree at the upscale London store Harrods, a visit to Exeter Football Club in England’s West Country, plus scenes from Geller and wife Hannah renewing their wedding vows in 2001, at which Jackson was best man.

“This is the real Michael Jackson, the way that just a handful of friends were privileged to see him,” Geller said. “Relaxed, witty, loving, smart, sincere and genuine. This film gives audiences around the world the opportunity to experience the reality of life with Michael.”

“My Friend Michael Jackson: Uri’s Story” will be produced by ITV Studios executive producer Alex Gardiner, producer Lesley Gardiner and director Paula Lichtarowicz.
