Gothenburg reveals world premieres

Lineup includes four Swedish documentaries

STOCKHOLM — The Gothenburg Film Festival, which runs Jan. 29 to Feb. 8, has selected five Swedish pics, all of which will be world preems.

Four are docus, of which two are produced by Stockholm’s Atmo, the radical shingle behind Venice pics “Metropia” and “Videocrazy.”

Regretters,” helmed by Markus Linden, is about two transsexuals who regret having undergone their sex change operations. Pic is produced by Atmo’s Kristina Aberg.

Atmo’s “Like a Pascha,” helmed by Svante Tidholm, is about Germany’s biggest brothel. Erik Gandini produced the pic.

In “Beauty Refugee,” which is produced by Malla Grapengiesser for Hysteria Film, helmer Claudia Lisboa tackles her family’s obsession with their looks. Her father is a cosmetic surgeon and all members of the family except the director have had a nip and a tuck.

The final docu is “Familia,” Mikael Wistrom’s third film about a family in Peru, following “The Second Shore” and “Compadre.” Pic is produced by Wistrom for Manharen Film and TV.

The fiction pic selected is “The Melody of the Future,” which is about a street musician in Karlstad. Helmed by Jonas Bergergard and Jonas Holmstrom, the pic is produced by Daniel Wirtberg for Daemon Film.
